Dr. Sacharia Albin

Dr. Sacharia Albin received his BS and MS degree from the University of Kerala, India, in 1969 and 1971 respectively. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Poona, India, in 1976. He worked as a design engineer in microelectronics at Hindustan Aeronautics, India. He was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool, UK. Dr. Albin conducted research in Si and GaAs electronic devices and semiconductor lasers while working at the research laboratories of GEC and ITT and published numerous articles in this field.

Dr. Albin joined Old Dominion University as an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Fall of 1986. He was appointed as full professor in 1996. Dr. Albin is currently the Graduate Program Director (GPD) in the department.

His research interests include materials and processes for VLSI devices, diamond thin films, nanotechnology, fiber-optic sensors, photonic-crystal fibers, and nanophotonics.
